Jihadist vipers: VHP seeks expulsion over graffiti at Jamia

Graffiti on walls with messages supporting Sharjeel and V.C. going back.

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday, October 23, reacted sharply to controversial graffiti on Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) walls and sought expulsion of the culprits. The slogans appeared on the walls amid the ongoing students’ protests over the restoration of the university’s students’ union.

Taking to X, VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said, “The appearance of slogans such as ‘Free Kashmir’, ‘Free Palestine’, ‘Free Sharjeel Imam’, ‘VC Go Back’, and ‘RSS Go Back’ at the prestigious Jamia University in the nation’s capital is highly unfortunate and represents a deep-seated conspiracy to desecrate this temple of learning.”

Giving it a political colour, he wondered if some people were trying to turn a central university into “a hub of anti-India activity”.

He also claimed that “these treacherous, venomous, jihadist vipers—who label the Constitution ‘fascist’ and, invoking the name of Allah, chant slogans like ‘India, you shall be torn to pieces’—are being politically glorified, with prominent Congress leaders seen coming to their defence!”

He even sought to know from the Congress top leadership, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,
“Whether they stand with traitors like Sharjeel Imam or with India’s Constitution, democracy, and national unity. Providing political patronage to anti-national ideologies must now come to an end.”

He insisted that such elements deserve public ostracism.

He signed off by adding that the JMI administration and police must identify the culprits and take action against them by expelling them from the campus.

Meanwhile, media reports said Delhi Police is investigating the vandalism.
