Tiger Shroff

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after gunmen opened fire at him in Juhu area of Mumbai on Sunday evening, October 18, police said.

His driver and another driver of an autorickshaw were injured in the incident, police said, adding that 15 teams have been formed to investigate the incident from various angles.

The incident took place near Pushpa Park under Juhu police station limits in the western suburb, and the chain of events leading to the incident is being pieced together, an official said.

“Shroff is safe and has not sustained any injuries in the firing incident. His driver, identified as Firdaus, and another driver of the autorickshaw, identified only as Chauhan, were injured in the shooting and were rushed for medical treatment,” the official added.

One person has been taken into custody for questioning, police said, as per reports.

He said Firdaus sustained an injury in his left hand.

As per preliminary reports, an unidentified individual fired upon the actor and his friend. A viral video showed an unidentified person opening fire on the actor’s car.

A massive manhunt has been launched to nab those involved, with specialised teams checking closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the area for leads, the official added.

Tiger’s father and actor Jackie Shroff confirmed that his son is unharmed and was assisting officials at the police station.

Lawrence Bishnoi allegedly claims responsibility

According to a viral social media post, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, but police are yet to verify its authenticity.

“A total of 15 teams, including dedicated personnel from the Mumbai Crime Branch and local police, have been constituted to investigate the case from all angles and track down the culprits,” a police official said.

A forensic team visited the scene of the incident to collect ballistic evidence, inspect the vehicle, and ascertain the exact number of rounds fired.

Fadnavis speaks to Tiger Shroff, police commissioner

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to the Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, seeking details of the incident and asked him to nab the assailants quickly, expedite the investigation and take strict action against those responsible.

He also spoke to Shroff over the phone and assured him of support, saying the accused would be traced soon and asking him not to worry, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

“We are all with you. We will track down the accused soon. Do not worry,” Fadnavis, who holds the Home portfolio, told the actor.

Opposition attacks Maharashtra govt over law and order

In a post on X, Congress leader Sachin Sawant said Mumbai appeared to be in the grip of chaos and accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also heads the Home Department, of failing to maintain law and order.

Referring to the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence and threats to actors and film producers, Sawant questioned the state government’s efforts to rein in anti-social elements.

He said the situation had reached a point where people who had earlier compared Maharashtra with Bihar were now saying that even Bihar was better.
